Dolan Rushing is an Eagle Scout , photographer , artist , musician , designer , minister , traveler , and creator . His family has deep roots in the Big Bend and Trans-Pecos region of Texas , where he has found the healing he always needed , which has transformed him into the person he is now . Judy Eron has lived for 25 years in the off-the-grid house she helped build on Terlingua Ranch . She and her partner Charlie are two-thirds of “ The Terlingua Fill-Harmonic Symphony ” that entertains there . They escape the desert heat by migrating yearly to the ocean in Washington state , where their band “ Double J and the Boys ” performs . Katherine Hess was born in Austin . She ’ s lived in Dallas , Fort Worth and San Antonio , where she earned a teaching degree and taught for 20 years . She married her husband Paul Hess , a descendent of the original Hess settlers of Marathon , in 1975 . While raising their four sons , the Hesses spent much of their time on the family ranch , exploring the rugged Big Bend country . Shannon King was born and raised in Texas . Shannon has lived in central Texas for the past 31 years . In 2014 , she discovered the west and our beautiful Chihuahuan desert and knew immediately this was where she was meant to be . Finally , this March , she is at home . A horse lover , Shannon has slowly built a following by riding and camping all over Texas and southern New Mexico , while telling her stories as a woman traveling alone . Joseph R . M . Longo researches and lectures about El Paso area history . He was born and raised in El Paso . He have written articles for The Password , a historical quarterly publication of El Paso County Historical Society . He is a former curator at the El Paso County Historical Society . He is a co-author of the book Lost Restaurants of El Paso and have written articles for El Paso Herald Post . com is a docent at the Magoffin Historical Homesite in El Paso . He has a B . A . in political science and minor in museum studies and is a incoming museum studies master student at the University of Oklahoma .
Stephanie Winston is originally from the Bronx , NY but now calls the Big Bend Region Home . She moved to the area in 2016 with her husband from Houston , Texas . Prior to moving out West she worked as an occupational therapist and used her culinary degree to help people to make healthy choices when eating .
