Sam Esparza is a Southwest Artist and 30-
year law enforcement veteran, as well as a mil-
itary veteran. He works in pencil, charcoal,
inks, watercolor, acrylics, pastels and oils.
Originally from Marathon, he and his wife
hope to return there in retirement. His work

Jim Glendinning, an Oxford-educated
Scot, lives in Alpine. The story of his travels,

Jeremy Gonzalez is an artist and freelance
writer from Dallas, Texas. He loves wildlife,

K.B. Whitley was born and raised in rural
southwest Louisiana where the piney woods of
East Texas quit dribbling over the Sabine and
Calcasieu rivers, and the flat rice farming
Cajun country begins. He retired to Marfa in
1998. He has lived in Marfa for near 17 years,
where he has become a strong political activist

Jim Wilson is a 66-year-old retired
Veterinarian living in the country between
Austin and Houston. He grew up in Lobo
Valley south of Van Horn. He began writing
poetry in 2000. He has published five books
of poetry. He loves the Big Bend country

Carolyn Brown Zniewski started her
publishing career at age nine, publishing a
one-page neighborhood newsletter called The
Circle. From 1992 – 2006 she wrote a recipe
column for two neighborhood newspapers in
